Memories 11-15

11. Making the rules to live by [066-67]
Game knight 2, Day 78 ☀ food

The Making of Brave Vesperia. After leaving Dahngrest the party stops to rest and Karol decides to hammer out a few details of their guild. Karol saysthat he wants their guild to become great and to protect Dahngrest and he explains that the first step of making the guild is to make the laws, which dictate everything about the guild and apply to all its members equally, no matter what. The laws, as first formulated by Yuri and then shortened by Estelle, go: “All for the Guild and they Guild for all” and “Do justice and punish the unjust”. Yuri admits to Estelle later that he was just kind of going with the flow, but now that he’s bragged to Flynn he can’t slack off. He then has a hilarious conversation with Judy in which they both point out that the other is evasive... Karol comes up with a terrible name for their guild, and Yuri totally lets him. In the morning Brave Vesperia gets its name (“The star that gives off the brightest light”) and its first job—both from Estelle. They decide to go to the desert to look for Phaeroh.

Yuri is pretty nebulous still in his memory. He is Party Leadering which means he’s mostly outward focused but he is starting to put his feet on the path of his own journey, giving him the drive he needs to fight against his sense of uselessness.

12. First sight of the ocean. [027]
Game 66, Day 80 ☀ ⅚

Just as it says on the label. This is a somewhat bittersweet memory for Yuri, as it involves a lot a huge pang of feeling in the Flynn category in regards to being literally and metaphorically ‘left behind’. But all in all this is probably the least caustic he’s ever been in regards to Flynn. There’s also a powerful desire to make sure Estelle sees her own ‘journey’ through. Afterwards they examine a grave (Elucifer’s, not that they know) and Yuri blithely mentions he’ll probably end up in an unmarked grave as well :D;

13. Watched a man drown in a sandpit. [099]
Game 67, Day 81 ☀ food

The party is at an inn, discussing Cumore’s recent slew of evil deeds. Estelle especially is really torn up about it but the party agrees that there’s nothing they can do, and they need to focus on the Entelexeia. (Hilariously Estelle is like “If only Flynn were here!”) raven mentions that the only cure for stupidity is death, and when the party falls asleep, Yuri goes to find Cumore. Cumore runs from him, but ends up backed up on the edge of a sand pit, begging bargaining for his life, claiming he was only following orders. Yuri approaches him and he falls back, still pleading. Yuri watches him drown, impassive.

Flynn catches him after and tells him to meet him later. While the town is celebrating Flynn’s brigade coming in and stopping Cumore’s brigade, Yuri leaves the party to meet with him. They argue about LAWS AND JUSTICE!!11 Flynn calls him a criminal and he agrees, saying he recognizes it for what it is. Flynn is just about to whip a sword out at him (not the sexy kind) but Sodia cockblocks him. Yuri takes off, and runs into Estelle, who had heard everything. He asks if she’s afraid of him, and she says no, that she’s unsure about the rightness or wrongess of his actions. He says that he could turn his blade on her and she insists he would never do so without a reason. She resolves to keep journeying with Yuri.

This is kind of a scary memory for Yuri because of the absolute dearth of fucks he gives as he watches Cumore die. Zero fucks. In this memory he is looking straight at his own capacity to be a cold-blooded murderer. In the memory he’s resolved to it but Aather Yuri is not nearly that hard yet. But at the same time this memory is heartening—although being opposed to Flynn is painful, he’s not alone, and Estelle is fighting for understanding of right and wrong beside him.

14. Warning Rita [024]
Game 69, Day 83 ☀ food

Just a short conversation with Rita about the nature of her interest in Estelle. “Estelle’s honest, good. Not like you or me. I’m just saying, don’t do anything reckless.” Then the Schwann Brigade show sup and ends up covering for them as they run from assassins.

15. Back from the dead. [167-168]
Game 71, Day 84 ☀ nailpolish ⅖

Yuri wakes up in his room, sore from a stomach wound. There’s a book next to his head, which he picks up and reads; it’s talking about Children of the Full Moon and the Adephagos. Duke walks in, and Yuri identifies him as the one who saved him but Duke claims he was only going after the sword (Dein Nomos). Duke continues to exposit the fact that the Children of the Full Moon sacrificed themselves to seal the Adephagos, who was brought forth by the aer use of humans. Yuri confirms that Duke was trying to stop the adephagos by calming the aer krenes but Duke claims he is with the Entelexeia, not humanity. He only helped Yuri and co because they tried to talk to the Entelexeia. Duke leaves, and Yuri tries to go after him but ends up running into Estelle who is really happy to see him. She explains what everyone’s been doing since he disappeared, and mentions that Flynn took ship after ship out to look for him...

They sleep and the next morning they confirm that going after the Adephagos is what needs to happen. The Schwann Brigade shows up to arrest him, for old time’s sake... They try to blackmail him into being a knight bt Yuri fucks with them and escapes and then the Schwann brigade is totally dere at him. Then they meet up with Judy and Rita!

ESTELLE IS SO HAPPY TO SEE HIM?? Also b-baka Flynn....
