31. Everyday in the Lower Quarter [headcanon] Game 115, Day 144 ☀ metallic gear ring, four times

This is a long memory that covers the three years before the start of the game after Yuri quit the knights and this period has a lot to do with Yuri’s attitude at the start of the game and especially his tsuness for Flynn. He was basically alone for the duration of it and this was right after all the idealism was crushed out of him by his three month stint in the knights. Despite Flynn being in the same city Yuri never visited him, and only ever saw Flynn when Flynn rushed down to the Lower Quarter to be a hero (This was by Yuri's own design as much as anything). Meanwhile Yuri was racking up arrests by squabbling with the knights, getting thrown into jail (more than 19 times) and inadvertently causing more trouble for the Lower Quarter while trying to help. So as Flynn gains a reputation as a hero, Yuri gains one as a no-account (though this is more his own perception). He purposefully uses his flippancy to keep everyone at a distance (which he thought nobody noticed... yeah right) and spends a lot of talking talking to Repede about how much he DOESN’T miss Flynn.

So, three years of not talking about his feelings, loneliness, bitterness at Flynn—for leaving him alone (not that Yuri recognizes that’s why) but Yuri starts attributing it as disdain for Flynn’s ‘stubborn obsessiveness’—and perpetual failure. Other notable events include sleeping with a guy for the first time and that one time he finally went to visit Flynn, broke into his room through the window, and left before Flynn got back.

Yuri still feels a lot of the feelings he felt during this period of his life, especially that persistent sense of failure and inadequacy as compared to Flynn as well as in general, so this memory will really just entrench that deeper. And it will definitely enforce the ‘no talking about feelings’ because clearly uo get can through every conversation in your life by being flip.
