Oh god... FAR ENOUGH THAT IT MAKES ME NERVOUS. I will bullet point some areas.
1. Waaay more open, both sexually and emotionally. canonically, Yuri is very closed-off because, basically, he doesn't think he's good enough for other people (that is a very simple way of putting it).
2. He's a lot LESS self-denying. In canon he tends to put his own wants on the backburner 100% of the time. In Aather, he's learned to be a bit more selfish and indulgent, and a lot of that has to do with Vincent.
3. He's a lot less hard, in general. In canon he has years of hating the empire and struggling futility against a system he couldn't beat and having to make really hard decisions. In Aather Yuri started off as a totally normal young man, and largely because of Vincent he never really had to build up his walls to the same extent.
That's all I can think of right now. How about for Echo?
