LET'S SEE uh so originally Chariot was pretty settled on breaking up with Yuri when he approached him about it. HE WAS SUPER READY TO GO 'we know we have been seeing other people and that is okay but i think it is time to end it bb' and had thought Yuri would've been okay with it, except apparently his timing was horrible and he was thrown off by how vehemently Yuri protested. Agreeing to try and work it out with Yuri was actually not really in his plan at all, but he did decide to go with it because honestly he might have accepted their 'break up' but he wasn't very happy with it. He likes Yuri! Yuri is still representative of one of his most relaxed and closest friendships when Chariot first arrived in Aather and he misses that a lot but can and does realize that they can't have that back, not exactly, because they're both different from how they used to be back then.
So! FRIENDSHIP RESTARTED and Chariot has a pretty positive view on it too. But mentally, he has pushed Yuri back a good few steps in terms of 'closeness' because right now he does have a few people he openly and comfortably talks about the mafia to and Yuri isn't quite in that space anymore. He's okay with taking it slowly though in working their way... not necessarily back to where they were but up to something good? Better?! And that whole talk they had, despite how much Chariot teased him during it, had him feeling pretty good about the direction they were going in.
So he's been following his gut instinct and just working on being casually friendly with Yuri again, which was why he invited him to the fight, teasing him a bunch, etc. He actually has no idea that not kissing Yuri during that game had that kind of effect on him, because in his view kissing/sexual things is just... not a thing they do anymore? Not out of discomfort or dislike or anything like that, but because it's just... not on the table sort of feeling. He just doesn't feel like he can or should start anything with Yuri... in part because of Flynn and Vincent I would say. HE IS VERY MUCH AWARE that neither Flynn nor Vincent would have a probably with him sleeping with Yuri but still there's a feeling that puts him off it and it doesn't make much sense yeah but it's THERE.
THE OTHER SIDE OF IT is that a lot of Chariot's sexual attraction to Yuri has cooled off and he doesn't have a particularly strong drive to push it back into casual sex or even attraction between them. He is pretty sexually satisfied right now after working out all his curiosities about sex early on in his Aather and has a couple of steady partners right now so he does not think/desire it nearly as much as he used to. He's still okay with being physical with Yuri in other ways to some extent, like ruffling his hair, fighting him, but not necessarily flopping on top of each other or kissing. It just doesn't feel like they're at that place yet?!
THAT WAS A TANGENT but it does still apply and Chariot's feelings toward Yuri are not really anywhere near kissing territory but he is also not at all aware of just how much weight Yuri puts on touching or that not kissing him and then ruffling his hair would send mixed signals. For him, anyway, it makes sense so he will just keep DERPING ON with being okay with how things are moving along, especially after getting Yuri's tsunapproval of dating Flynn, which was actually the one event he was most worried about talking to Yuri with.
